Such a futile struggle

All the doctor's efforts were in vain and the man soon died.

Fruitless will be what they have fashioned, and whatever they have done will perish.

And of no effect is that which they used to do.

Their deeds are in vain therein, and their works are null.

(There they shall come to know) that their deeds in the world have come to naught and that whatever they have done is absolutely useless.

(All) that they contrive here is vain and (all) that they are wont to do is fruitless.

Those whose striving goes astray in the present life, while they think that they are working good deeds.

They are those whose effort is wasted in the life of the world, and they deem that they are doing well in performance.

Those whose efforts have been wasted in this life while they thought that they were acquiring good by their deeds!

Those whose efforts in this world are misguided, while they assume that they are doing well.

It will be those whose effort went astray in the life of the world and who believe nevertheless that they are doing good.

Those whose effort goeth astray in the life of the world, and yet they reckon that they do good work.

But the praying of unbelievers will be all in vain.

But the calling of the unbelievers is only in error.

And supplication of the infidels will be but in wandering.

And the invocation of the disbelievers is nothing but in error!

And the call of the unbelievers will end in vain.

These are the ones for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter except the fire and all that they did there has gone to waste and all their deeds are destroyed.

those are they for whom in the world to come there is only the Fire their deeds there will have failed, and void will be their works.

These are they for whom there is not in the Hereafter save the Fire to naught shall come that which they have performed, and vain is that which they have been working

They said, Then you yourselves pray and the prayer of the disbelievers is nothing but astray.

Their works have failed now they are losers.'

All that they did has been in vain (because of their hypocrisy), and they have become the losers.

They will say, Then pray, but the prayers of the disbelievers will always be in vain.

All their acts have gone to waste and now they are the losers.

Their works have failed, and they have become the losers.

They say Then do ye pray, although the prayer of disbelievers is in vain.
